Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and operating production backend systems, including distributed services at scale, with strong expertise in Java (our primary language), Spring Boot, and other JVM-based technologies.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, software design patterns, and backend engineering fundamentals.
- Ability to think beyond implementation details and translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions with a consultant mindset.
- Experience designing and developing scalable backend services and microservices-based architectures.
- Experience building and maintaining REST APIs and integrating with external systems.
- Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures, messaging systems (e.g. Kafka), or high-volume data pipelines.
- Experience working with relational databases and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, with a good understanding of data modeling and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS (including EKS) and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Good understanding of modern software engineering practices, including CI/CD, code reviews, automated testing, and Agile development.
- Passion for leveraging AI-assisted development tools, such as Claude AI, to accelerate software delivery while maintaining high engineering standards.
- Fluent English communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders and lead technical discussions with external partners.
- Experience with high-volume e-commerce platforms or other large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience working with event-driven sagas or complex asynchronous workflows.
- Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to architecture and technical design discussions.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services supporting a high-volume e-commerce platform.
- Participate in architecture and system design decisions to ensure scalability, reliability, maintainability, and performance.
- Develop high-performance REST APIs and distributed services within a microservices ecosystem.
- Build and maintain integrations with suppliers, marketplaces, logistics providers, and other external systems.
- Design and implement event-driven workflows using Kafka and asynchronous messaging patterns.
- Optimize application performance, database access, and backend processing for high-traffic environments.
- Design efficient data models and contribute to database optimization strategies across relational and NoSQL technologies.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to deploy and operate services in AWS-based cloud environments using Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines.
- Participate in production incident investigations, root cause analysis, and continuous platform improvements.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while promoting engineering best practices and coding standards.
- Perform code reviews and provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers.
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Solution Architects, and business stakeholders to understand business objectives and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
- Document technical designs, APIs, integration flows, and architectural decisions.
- Evaluate new technologies, identify opportunities for platform improvements, and contribute to the long-term technical evolution of the platform.
- Promote AI-assisted development practices by reviewing, validating, and refining AI-generated code while ensuring security, performance, and maintainability standards are met.
